Jim Wilcox has over 37 years of operations and financial management experience. For 15 years, he has provided interim executive management and advisory services for companies in periods of corporate transition and in 2003 he founded Pivotal Strategies, Inc. as a platform for his practice. For over 16 years he held executive (CFO, COO, CEO) positions for a number of private and publicly-held companies. Jim began his career with the “Big Eight” CPA firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. where he spent six years in the commercial audit group. In addition to his audit responsi-bilities with the firm, he received specialized training and provided services as an IT specialist.
Jim has worked with public, private and family owned businesses ranging in size from start-up to over $100 million in revenues. His experience spans a variety of industries in the manufacturing, services, distribution, retail and technology sectors.
Jim's background with distressed businesses, both in and out of bankruptcy, is substantial. His experience includes crisis and turnaround management, debt restructuring, DIP financing, operational restructuring, distressed M&A (preemptive sales, section 363 sales and consoli-dating acquisitions), and business liquidations.
Both as a company executive and on an interim/advisory basis, Jim has raised significant growth capital for emerging, development stage businesses through venture capital, private sources and public offerings. He has also helped them support healthy growth by establishing effective business infrastructures.
In a variety of scenarios, Jim has completed debt and equity financing transactions totaling over $300 million for restructuring, growth capital and M&A financing. He has also completed numerous buy and sell side M&A transactions, ranging in size from under $1 million to over $100 million.
For six years, Jim served on the Investment Committee, and as an Executive in Residence, for the Watermill Group, a private equity firm specializing in distressed investing and advisory services. He has also served on the Board of Directors and as Audit Committee Chairman for Mooney Aerospace Group LTD, a distressed, publicly traded company. His active memberships include the Turnaround Management Association, the Association for Corporate Growth, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Smaller Business Association of New England.
Jim is a Certified Public Accountant. He holds a MS degree in Professional Accounting from Northeastern University and a BA in Economics from Ursinus College.
