Bill Prouty has 40 years of experience in the insurance and healthcare industries with emphasis on interim and crisis management, mergers and acquisitions, and operational restructurings.  He has worked with com-panies ranging in size from start-up to several billion in revenues, and with privately held companies as well as corporations listed on all of the major exchanges.  In the insurance industry, he has worked with life, health, annuity, property-casualty and reinsurance companies.  His primary focus in the healthcare industry has been with managed care/payer organiza-tions.  Functionally, Bill has strong, hands-on executive experience, having served companies as CIO, COO and CEO.

Bill most recently served as CEO of a $1 billion, publicly-traded insurance holding company.  He was hired by its Board of Directors to stabilize the company and position it for sale. The company had been delinquent in its SEC filings, had been de-listed from the NASDAQ exchange and was facing receivership proceedings by state industry regulators. Under Bill's direction, the company established profitability, became current in its filings, was upgraded by rating agencies, held its first annual shareholders meeting in four years, and was successfully sold to a larger insurance holding company.

Bill was also part of the turnaround team that successfully brought the Conseco Insurance Group through the third largest bankruptcy in U.S. history. He initially served as Executive Vice President, Insurance Operations at Conseco and then was Chief Operating Officer of Bankers Life & Casualty, Conseco¡¯s largest subsidiary.

In addition to other executive and management positions within the insurance and health care industries, Bill has spent fourteen years as a management consultant.  For six years he was a Management Consulting Partner at Ernst & Young where he directed the Insurance Industry and Information Technology practices for the New England Region. In this role, he served property-casualty, life and health insurers of all sizes.  For eight years, prior to Ernst & Young, Bill had a similar role at Coopers & Lybrand in their national insurance industry consulting practice.
